Here's a Kato Amtrak Superliner running with our mod. to their lighting kit (LED instead of incandescent bulb)

Then, we added EOT (end of train) lights using two of our Micro red LEDs and puddled in the lens openings with Ruby Red Gallery Glass (#16015) . That way they appear as red lenses even when the power is off. You should see the car as it disappears into a tunnel. It's very eye-catching.

We wired these red LEDs in series with one of our 510 ohm surface-mount resistors and connected them to the same bridge rectifier (N301S) that provides DC for the white LED in the passenger area.

As a finishing touch, we added in one of our Ultra-miniature slide switches so this feature could be turned on or off, depending on how the train is setup.
